Ara: A 20-year-old man, who was on way to appear for BA Part III exam , was crushed to death by a speeding truck after he fell off his bike following a head-on collision with another at Kurmuri village under Sikarhatta police station of Bhojpur district on Thursday. His friend, who was riding with him, and two other youths on another motorbike were also injured, triggering a protest on Bihiya-Bihta state highway for four hours.

While Sanjit Kumar, a resident of Tarari village in the same police station area of the district, died on the spot, his 19-year-old friend Prakash, also from the same place, along with Santu Kumar (20) and Aaditya Kumar (21), were rushed to the subdivisional hospital at Piro. From there, they were referred to Sadar Hospital, Ara.

Santu and Aaditya, also a BA examinee, are from Bihta village under Imadpur police station of the district.

Talking to the reporters at the sadar hospital, Santu said Aaditya had to appear in the BA Part III exam at a college in Piro. "I was taking him to the centre when our bike collided with another. As we fell off the bikes, a truck ran over the youth, whom I don't know," he said.

Angry over the accident, the local residents blocked Bihiya-Bihta state highway near the Kurmuri village for about four hours, demanding adequate compensation for the bereaved family. The jam was lifted only after the senior police officers intervened.
