NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Balbir Singh and Sukhbir Dalal joined the BJP on Saturday in the presence of Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva and Union Minister Harsh Malhotra.

Balbir Singh, a six-time member of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, accused the Delhi government of neglecting Punjabi language education . "Despite LG Saxena's orders, Punjabi teachers aren’t being appointed in government schools, affecting Sikh students," he said. Singh praised BJP leaders for their responsiveness and support in public service.

Sukhbir Dalal, voicing discontent over stalled projects, said, "The act for a sports university was passed five years ago, but no work has begun. The Rs 2,100 crore budget claim is a lie." He also criticized AAP's leadership, calling the chief minister's residence a "Sheesh Mahal" and alleging restricted access for party members.

Both leaders dismissed speculation that their switch was ticket-driven, with Dalal stating, "This is about principles, not politics. My ticket was cut five years ago."

As the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections draw near, AAP has announced its candidates, including Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi and Atishi from Kalkaji.

BJP is yet to release its list but is actively consolidating support as it prepares for a high-stakes electoral contest.
