That is why cutting trees without permission is illegal in India. Under Section 78 of the Indian Forest Act 1927, a case can be filed in the Environmental Court for doing so. If you also want to cut the tree in front of your house, then you will have to get permission for that.

If you want to cut the tree in front of your house, then to cut that tree, you will have to take permission in writing from the local council. These include departments like the Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council, Gram Panchayat, and Forest Department.

On the other hand, if you live in Delhi and you want to cut a tree, then you can apply for permission online by visiting the Forest Department website https://dpta.eforest.delhi.gov.in/index.aspx.

To cut a tree, you will have to deposit Rs 34500 in the Forest Department. While applying, you will have to provide your personal details, complete details of the property in which the tree is located, a photo of the tree, and the reason behind cutting the tree.

If you prune your trees without permission, then for that you will have to pay a minimum fine of Rs 20,000. On the other hand, if you cut the entire tree without permission, then you will have to pay a fine of up to Rs 60,000.
