Ration Card E-KYC: What Documents Are Required and How to Complete the Process
The government issues ration cards to help economically disadvantaged individuals access essential goods at subsidized prices. In a recent update, the e-KYC process has been made mandatory for all ration card holders. Failure to complete this process will result in individuals being unable to avail of ration card benefits.
Why Ration Card E-KYC is Now MandatoryThe primary goal behind introducing the e-KYC process is to ensure that ration benefits are provided exclusively to those who genuinely need them. The government aims to curb the exploitation of the free ration system by ineligible individuals who are currently receiving these benefits without entitlement.

There are two ways to complete your ration card e-KYC:
1. E-KYC through Ration Dealer- Visit your local ration dealer.
- Submit the required documents for the e-KYC process.
- Download the Mera Ration 2.0 App on your smartphone.
- Log in using your Aadhaar number and captcha, then enter the OTP and set your PIN.
- Select the family details option to complete the e-KYC.
- Before proceeding, ensure that the ration card is linked with Aadhaar. If not, visit your local ration dealer to finalize the linking process.
To check if your e-KYC is complete:
- Visit your state’s food security portal.
- Enter your ration card number and navigate to the e-KYC status section.
- If the e-KYC is completed, it will show "Yes"; otherwise, it will display "No."
