Only 1 Indian Star Listed Among 60 Best Actors of 21st Century Beating Tom Hanks & Tom Cruise
Every now and then there is a list of the best films and actors in different categories and the latest one that has been making the rounds is about the 60 Best Actors of the 21st Century.
The list curated by the culture team of The Independent features some of the biggest and the most popular international stars like Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr, Tom Cruise, Mark Ruffalo, Emma Stone, Christian Bale among others.
And among them is listed only one Indian star — the late Irrfan Khan.
The list curated by the website takes into consideration only the films that were released post the year 2000 and Irrfan has been named the 41st Best Actor of the 21st Century by the team.

Irrfan who started his career in the late ‘80s, gained prominence as a leading man in the early ‘00s, more than a decade later with Asif Kapadia’s British feature film debut The Warrior
Post that, he garnered acclaim in films like Haasil, Paan Singh Tomar, Hindi Medium, D-Day, Piku etc in India and the likes of The Lunchbox, Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pi, The Namesake, Jurassic World and Inferno internationally.
Irrfan was listed above his Inferno co-star Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr in the list, though this writer believes he at least deserved to be in the top five.
Praising Irrfan, the writeup read, “It’s Irrfan Khan’s eyes, hooded and deep brown, that will live eternally. They granted him the ability to weave magic, to recite poetry without moving his lips.”
Further praising his performances, the website stated that in The Warrior, Irrfan was “all stoic fortitude”. The website further stated, “it was intensity he brought, later, to Maqbool

Irrfan Khan passed away at the age of 53 on April 29, 2020, after suffering from colon infection due to neuroendocrine cancer.
