Anil Sharma recalls when Dharmendra left Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol embarrassed during Apne: 'Inka kuch heroines ke sath chakkar hi nahi chalta kabhi'

Veteran actor Dharmendra , who is known for his wit and charm, recently became the subject of a heartwarming and humorous anecdote shared by Gadar director Anil Sharma . The story, set during the making of Apne, showcased Dharmendra’s playful nature and how his sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol , hilariously reacted to his teasing.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Anil Sharma recalled a moment from the vanity van where the legendary actor was seated with his sons. Dharmendra remarked, “Mere ladke bade seedhe hain (My sons are too innocent). Inka yaar, kuch heroines ke sath chakkar hi nahi chalta kabhi. Aur mere time ko dekho, sab heroines peeche aati rehti thi (They don’t have affairs with actresses. And look at me, all the heroines were after me).”

Sunny and Bobby, caught off guard by their father’s candid remarks, quickly exited the room, leaving Dharmendra and Anil in splits. “Dharam ji laughed and said, ‘Inko samajh nahi aata. Bade seedhe hain ladke (They are so simple; they don’t understand anything). Main bhi bada seedha hu, haske bolne lage. Aisa kuch thode hai (I am also innocent, he laughed and said. There’s nothing like that)’,” Anil recounted.

Reflecting on Dharmendra’s charisma, Anil added, “Dharam ji’s charm was unparalleled; every female actor of his time wanted to work with him. Sunny is shy and grounded, while Bobby, despite his starry demeanor, chose to prioritize family life.”

The Deol family’s close bond and entertaining dynamics continue to delight fans. Anil Sharma, who directed Gadar 2 and is planning Apne 2 with the Deols, also hinted at the possibility of Gadar 3 starring Sunny Deol.
