Apple rolls out iOS 18.3: What's new
Reportedly, summaries for apps in the entertainment and news category have been temporarily disabled. However, they could return and could be restored in an upcoming update. If needed, it is expected to come with the final version of iOS 18.3 or later.
A few days back, the suspension of the feature was just announced. Now in a statement, Apple confirmed that a software update would be deployed in the coming weeks. The update will be clear when the displayed text is a summary provided by Apple Intelligence. The tech giant also encouraged users to report any issues if they face any unexpected notifications.
With the update, Apple aims to help you distinguish between summaries generated by Apple Intelligence and the initial information sent from the media.
Other updates you can't miss
Apart from the above mentioned updates, there are some changes you need to know. These includes the following:
Summarized notifications are now displayed in italic text. This helps to separate them from any usual standard notifications.
You can disable Notification summaries directly within each app from the lock screen by swiping a notification and pressing the Options button.
In the Message menu bar (usually accessible by pressing the + button in any conversation), there is now an entry for Genmoji. Earlier, you could only add emoji by pressing the emoji keyboard button. Now AI can help you create a Genmoji.
In case you are editing a PDF through the screenshot interface, if you crop the content, Apple now provides a warning. It shows a warning that the cropped content is not removed from the PDF.
