Madhya Pradesh: I-T Department Suspects Gold, Cash Belong To Rx-RTO Constable

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Income Tax department has started recording the statement of Chetan Gaur as the vehicle, from which 52 kg gold and Rs 11 crore in cash were seized, was registered in his name. The I-T officers, however, feel that Gaur is an impoverished person and could not own so much money.

They suspect that the seized gold and cash may belong to his friend and former transport constable Saurabh Sharma, who has allegedly done investment in his name. If all evidence points towards involvement of Sharma then he could be quizzed by the I-T officers. Currently, Sharma is in Dubai.

Hence if need arises then the I-T department may seek help from the Indian Embassy in Dubai to reach out to Sharma for questioning. Sharma went to Dubai much before the Lokayukta police raided his house.  Meanwhile, the statement of Chetan Gaur was being recorded at the I-T office from Friday night. So far, whatever information the I-T officers could get, they found that Gaur is an impoverished person and did not own even a sofa at his house.

Gaur belongs to Gwalior and has been residing in Bhopal for the last three years. Currently, the I-T department is trying to reach the bottom of the case to find who actually owns 52 kg gold and Rs 11 crore seized on Thursday night.   

The I-T department came to know that Sharma, in the name of Gaur, opened a petrol pump and obtained a contract of fisheries as well. Further investigation was underway to uncover “Benami” investment by Sharma.

The I-T department officials were surprised to know that Chetan Gaur, who is close associate of former transport constable Saurabh Sharma, is a poor person. He does not have even a sofa at his home. Gaur is learnt to have told to the I-T officers that he had never travelled in the vehicle from which cash and gold biscuits were recovered.

Investment done in name of ex-minister’s companies

The ongoing Income Tax raid against three builders and a land dealer is going to pass heat on a BJP MLA and former minister. The reason is that the investment has been done in the name of the companies owned by the former minister in Katni. The BJP MLA is a business tycoon. The I-T officers are following the clues minutely.

During the raid, they stumbled upon the evidences, which suggests that heavy investment was done in the companies of a renowned industrialist of Raipur. Rajesh Sharma of Trishul Construction is learnt to have played a key role in the investments done in the companies.
