Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli recently appeared in public and his conversation with childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar soon went viral on social media. Kambli and Tendulkar attended a function organised to celebrate the birth anniversary of their late coach Ramakant Achrekar last week.

Kambli did not look his old self at all and his face was very pale for a 52-year-old, which made many of his fans on social media very emotional. Former Indian cricketers like Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar have now come forward and promised to help Kambli stand on his feet.

The downfall of the former Mumbai left-handed batsman is quite shocking as Kambli, who had a net worth of around Rs 12-13 crore a few years ago, is surviving on a meagre pension of only Rs 30,000 that he receives every month from the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

However, he can count on his apartment in Jewel Tower Complex in Mumbai's Bandra West Reclamation area. As per the report, the apartment is around 1600 sq ft and should be worth around Rs 8 crore as per the current value of the area.

According to a tabloid report, Kambli's apartment is actually part of the Jewel Cooperative Society, which was formed in 2007 by 10 Mumbai cricketers and a kabaddi player. Kambli and the rest moved into the apartment in 2010.

Apart from Kambli, the cooperative society had Indian cricketers like Ajit Agarkar, Sameer Dighe, Ajinkya Rahane, Ramesh Powar, Sairaj Bahutule, Paras Mahambre and Abey Kuruvilla. But according to former Mumbai cricketer Raju Kulkarni, Kambli owes maintenance dues of over Rs 10 lakh for quite some time.

The report also stated that Kambli has around 15 non-cognisable cases registered against him at the Bandra police station. This was due to non-payment of maintenance charges, which Kambli had not paid since he moved into the apartment.

Reports had also emerged that Kambli and his second wife Andrea Hewitt had also not paid the home loan of their apartment apart from the vehicle loan. After several calls, DNS Bank which had given Kambli the home loan, published an advertisement in the newspaper declaring Kambli and his wife as defaulters.

Kambli bought this apartment for Rs 2 crore and took a home loan of around Rs 55 lakh from DNS Bank. However, the cricketer continues to live in this apartment even though his second wife Andrea Hewitt and two children - Jesus and Johanna - have moved out in 2023 after a domestic violence case was filed against Kambli.
