Gujarat is home to numerous historical and ancient forts, each offering a glimpse into the state's rich past. # Dabhoi Fort

# Surat Fort

Surat, located in the southern part of Gujarat, was once a major seaport and trade hub. To protect the city from attacks after repeated firebombing by the Portuguese, Sultan ordered the construction of Surat Fort, which was built by Turkish soldier Safi Agha. Some believe it was built earlier by Mohammed Tughlak to defend against tribal Bhil attacks.
