Common symptoms of lupus are fatigue, joint pain, rash, and fever. Four years later in 2017, Selena underwent a kidney transplant. She received a kidney from Francia Raisa.

In 2018, Selena was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, a mental condition in which a person has abnormal changes in their mood and activity level. According to a report by Rolling Stone, her need to take medication for bipolar disorder means she will likely not be able to have children of her own.
