ITV This Morning chaos as display with £500k cash broken as hosts scramble to fix

This Morning descended into chaos on Monday after a guest accidentally broke a display case filled with £500,000 in cash live on air.

Presenters Cat Deeley, 47, and Ben Shephard, 49, were left scrambling to fix the broken plastic display as the ITV show teetered on the edge of disaster.

Actress Jodie Prenger, 45, was introducing a competition segment and wheeled in a tower packed with cash when Ben asked: "Is it actually real?" Prenger reassured him, replying: "Yeah, you can open it," but as she did, disaster struck, and one of the panels snapped off.

In a panic, Jodie exclaimed: "Oh no, I broke it, I broke it, don't worry, don't worry," adding: "I'm just gonna hold it, I look like I'm on Star Wars!"

Meanwhile, Cat was in the background frantically trying to fix the cabinet, adding to the drama. To make matters even more chaotic, a choir had been brought into the studio to perform Pharrell Williams' hit song Happy in promotion of the competition.

This wasn't the first time the ITV show found itself in hot water this month. Earlier, Celebs Go Dating star Lauryn Goodman, 33, publicly slammed the hosts, Ben and Cat, for what she described as an "awkward" interview.

Lauryn had appeared on This Morning to discuss her upcoming appearance on the E4 dating show, but felt blindsided by the personal questions surrounding her ex, Kyle Walker, and their recent court case.

After the interview aired, viewers quickly took to social media to express their outrage, criticising the hosts for appearing "unimpressed" and accusing them of being borderline "insulting".

Lauryn herself shared a clip from her interview, prompting fans to flood the comments with support.

One fan commented: "They seemed really frosty with you and the interview came across really awkward, however, you did really well given the questions asked. You seemed shocked by Kyle's statement at the end but again kept your composure. Hope you and the babies are doing well."

In response, Lauryn admitted: "I was taken back as you can probably tell. Didn't really think it was necessary and didn't understand the purpose of it.

"Also, the 'respect my privacy' when he's the one who requested it was all made public. Made no sense to me but again it is what it is. I wasn't on there to talk about him. I was there to talk about me and my children and Celebs Go Dating."

Another fan asked if she felt she had been treated fairly, to which Lauryn replied: "I was on there to talk about Celebs Go Dating, but didn't really end up being about that. Is what it is."
