In a major step towards enhancing passenger convenience and digital transformation, Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw launched the ‘RailOne’ app, a next-generation mobile application designed to integrate a wide range of railway services into a single, easy-to-use platform. The launch was held at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, marking the 40th Foundation Day celebration of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS).

A Unified Experience for Every Passenger

The RailOne app, now available for download on both Android Play Store and iOS App Store, is a comprehensive digital platform that brings together a host of railway services under one roof. Designed with a user-friendly interface, the app aims to simplify passenger interaction with Indian Railways, reducing dependency on multiple apps.

Some of the key features of RailOne include:

  • Unreserved Ticket Booking (UTS) with 3% discount via R-Wallet
  • Live Train Tracking for real-time updates
  • Grievance Redressal Mechanism
  • Availability of e-catering, luggage porter assistance, and last-mile taxi booking services

While reserved tickets will still be booked through IRCTC, the RailOne app is also authorized by IRCTC, making it a legitimate and secure alternative for accessing multiple services, much like other IRCTC partner apps.

Smart Access and Seamless Login

The app features a single sign-on system, allowing users to log in easily using mPIN or biometric authentication. It also supports credentials from existing RailConnect and UTS apps, providing a smooth transition for long-time users. Additionally, the app helps save storage space, eliminating the need for passengers to install multiple applications.

Modern PRS Coming by December 2025

At the event, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw praised CRIS for its vital role in driving technological progress and highlighted the need to further reinforce Indian Railways’ digital infrastructure. He also unveiled plans for the upcoming next-generation Passenger Reservation System (PRS), scheduled to be launched by December 2025, promising enhanced speed, scalability, and user-centric features.

The upgraded PRS will:

  • Be agile, scalable, and multilingual
  • Handle 10 times the current load
  • Process up to 1.5 lakh bookings and 40 lakh enquiries per minute
  • Offer advanced seat selection, fare calendars, and special booking options for Divyangjan, students, and patients
Aligning with the Vision of Viksit Bharat

The launch of RailOne is another milestone in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making Indian Railways the growth engine of India’s Vikas Yatra. Over the past decade, the Railways has seen significant upgrades—from station redevelopment and coach modernization to introduction of new-generation trains, all aimed at improving the overall passenger experience.

Shri Vaishnaw stated that the RailOne app symbolizes Indian Railways’ commitment to democratizing access to digital services, making rail travel smarter, safer, and more inclusive.

As CRIS celebrates its four decades of innovation and service, the introduction of RailOne stands out as a symbol of a tech-forward, passenger-first approach to public transport in India.
