As rumors swirl about the Indian captain Rohit Sharma potentially parting ways with Mumbai Indians (MI), fans of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are eagerly speculating about his possible arrival in Bengaluru for the IPL 2025 mega auctions.

One such enthusiastic RCB fan expressed his desire to see Rohit team up with Virat Kohli at RCB during a conversation on Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube channel. The fan envisioned Rohit leading RCB and opening alongside Virat Kohli, predicting the decibel levels at M Chinnaswamy Stadium would reach new heights.

Reacting to the fan’s suggestion, Ashwin who is known for his witty comebacks delivered a light-hearted yet practical response. “Agar Rohit Sharma ke liye aap jaa rahe hai to 20 crore rakhna padega (You need to keep 20 crores with yourself if you want to sign up Rohit Sharma),” Ashwin quipped, acknowledging the high price tag Rohit would likely command at the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Ashwin, who has played for several franchises including CSK, DC, RR, PBKS and RPSG, recognised the excitement of pairing Rohit with Virat but reminded fans that signing Rohit would come with a hefty price.

Rohit Sharma who began his IPL journey with Deccan Chargers in 2008 joined Mumbai Indians in 2011 and became a franchise legend. Under his leadership, MI clinched five IPL titles (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020). He is MI’s all-time leading run-scorer and holds the records for the most matches played and the most sixes hit for the franchise.

Although removed from MI’s leadership role ahead of the IPL 2024, Rohit continued to play a pivotal role, finishing as the franchise’s leading run-scorer last season. Following the IPL, he led India to victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies and USA, emerging as the tournament’s leading run-scorer.

As speculation continues about Rohit’s future in the IPL, RCB fans can only dream of the possibility of seeing two of India’s greatest cricketers, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, sharing the field in Bengaluru next year.
