Donald Trump Wants To Modify The 25th Amendment To Be Able To Remove A Vice President

Former President Donald Trump said he will modify the 25th Amendment to make it possible to remove a vice president who 'covers up the incapacity of the president'. The Republican presidential nominee announced his plans at a campaign rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin. This comes after he and his allies have repeatedly targeted Kamala harris and President Joe Biden over the latter's health issues and mental fitness. Since Biden bowed out of the 2024 race and endorsed Harris, Trump has been talking about the VP and other White House members engaging in a cover-up to hiden the state of the former's health. The 25th Amendment, ratified in 1967, outlines procedures for presidential succession and disability. It ensures that if the President dies or resigns, the Vice President becomes President. It also provides a process for filling a vacant Vice Presidency and allows the President to temporarily transfer powers to the Vice President. If the President is deemed unable to perform their duties by the Vice President and Cabinet, the Vice President can assume the role of Acting President.
