Reno Fire: Bushfire At Davis Creek Park Creates Dense Smoke, Drivers On US-395 In Washoe Valley Cautioned

A bush fire erupted at Davis Creek Regional Park in Reno, Nevada on Saturday afternoon creating a dense pile of smoke. Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue posted on X saying that multiple agencies are responding to the fire. Reno Fire Department reshared the post saying that they are assisting with rescue efforts."Reno Fire Department is assisting with response to the brush fire at Davis Creek Regional Park. Please avoid the area, remain alert for emergency vehicles, and be aware smoke may limit visibility when driving in the area," the department said in the post.

The National Weather Service in Reno said in a post on X that the smoke from the fire was being carried towards US-395 which passes through Washoe Valley."Use caution if traveling on US-395 through Washoe Valley. Dense smoke driven by gusty westerly winds at the surface may lead to areas of decreased visibility in the vicinity of a brush fire at Davis Creek Park," NWS Reno posted. The city of Reno posted on X that I-580 North is closed between Bellevue and Mt. Rose Highway due to the fire. They asked residents to avoid the area and give first responders the scope to respond. "I-580 north is closed between Bellevue and Mt. Rose Highway due to brush fire at Davis Creek. Please avoid the area and give first responders room to work," they wrote.
