Right Time To Retire: India Pacer Who Made His Debut Under MS Dhoni Announces Retirement

India pacer Barinder Sran has announced his retirement from professional cricket. Barinder, who made his ODI debut under MS Dhoni, played 6 ODIs and 2 T20Is. He was called up to Team India for the ODI series against Australia in January 2016. He had only played 8 List A matches before his ODI debut.Barinder played his last game for India against Zimbabwe in June 2016. "As I officially hang up my cricket boots, I look back at my journey with a heart full of gratitude. Since switching from boxing in 2009, cricket has gifted me innumerable and incredible experiences. Fast bowling soon became my lucky charm and opened doors to represent prestigious IPL franchises, ultimately culminating in the highest honor of representing India in 2016," he wrote on Instagram"Even though my international career was brief, the memories created will be forever cherished. I am eternally grateful to the almighty for getting me the right coaches and management, who have supported me throughout my journey. And i think this is the right time to retire from international and domestic cricket , i would also like to thank @pcacricketassociation and BCCI for their support. As I embark on this new chapter, I carry immense gratitude for the opportunities that cricket has afforded me. Lastly as the saying goes, “Just like the sky, dreams have no limits”, so keep dreaming."

The 31-year-old made his debut when Team India was looking for a left-arm pacer. Ashish Nehra made his T20I return in 2016 but he wasn't considered for ODIs.Barinder started his domestic career with Punjab and played for them from 2011 to 2021. He played 18 first-class matches, 31 List A matches and 48 T20s.The 31-year-old was part of Mumbai Indians (MI), Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL. He was part of the Rohit Sharma-led MI that won the IPL 2019 trophy with a win over Chennai Super Kings in the final. Barinder scalped 18 wickets in 24 IPL matches.He is the second Indian capped player who has retired in the past one week. On August 24, Shikhar Dhawan also announced his decision to retire from international and domestic cricket.
