Unhappy with daughter's love marriage, man kills son-in-law in Chhindwara

Bhopal: Irked by his daughter's love marriage, a 42-year-old man stabbed his son-in-law to death in Chhindwara district on Sunday night. Police have arrested the accused.

The incident took place at Badhiya Lines locality under the jurisdiction of Chandameta police station at around 9.30pm.

Residences of the deceased, Yogesh Malviya (26), and the accused, Videsh Malviya, are in the same locality. Videsh's 19-year-old daughter Radhika had gotten married to Yogesh in August, sources said.

Parasiya subdivisional officer of police (SDOP), Jitendra Singh, said, "The deceased and the girl of the accused were from the same caste and community, and even other family members had no issues with the marriage. It was the accused who held a grudge against the marriage. On Sunday as well, he had first gone to talk to his daughter and attempted to bring her back. But when he was not able to do so, he returned home. He then went back and murdered his son-in-law."

Videsh had also taken his minor son with him to commit the crime. Videsh was arrested by police late in the night, while the minor was rounded up by police on Monday.

"Detailed investigations are being carried out. The accused inflicted two fatal wounds on the deceased, leading to his death," Singh said.
