Bhubaneswar: State govt has received feedback and suggestions from over 3 lakh people, both within the country and abroad, through email and WhatsApp for the 2036 ‘vision document', when Odisha will celebrate its centenary of formation.

Chief minister Mohan Majhi sought public inputs for creating the vision document for Odisha's development by 2036, in alignment with the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047. Majhi noted the public's insights and suggestions across various sectors. "Thank you Odisha for coming forward with valued inputs for shaping Odisha's future," he said.

A senior official said Odisha's centenary in 2036 and India's Independence centenary in 2047 present significant opportunities for the state's development. The chief minister's office (CMO) reported AI has been employed to systematically evaluate citizens' suggestions, ensuring comprehensive consideration of all submissions for incorporation into the state's development strategy.

"This innovative step underscores Odisha's commitment to utilise cutting-edge technology for enhancing citizen-driven policymaking. The Odisha vision citizen engagement platform received inputs from diverse stakeholders, including students, professionals, government officials, organizations and eminent personalities," the CMO stated.

The recommendations encompass 17 developmental areas, establishing groundwork for sustainable growth, including agricultural advancement, rural development, improved irrigation systems and market connectivity. The administration highlighted their priorities: environmentally conscious mining operations, community welfare, support for women entrepreneurs, gender equality initiatives, tourism development through infrastructure enhancement, urban modernisation, disaster management and sustainable energy adoption.

The CMO emphasised that public involvement is crucial for establishing an economically robust Odisha with social equity, positioning itself as a frontrunner in human development indicators. Govt acknowledged sustainable development, innovation, education, and cultural preservation as fundamental elements for the state's prosperity.

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Bhubaneswar that initiatives are underway to establish Odisha amongst the robust, affluent, and rapidly progressing states by 2036.
