23-yr-old held for replacing QR code of fuel stn, withdrawing money fraudulently
Aizawl: A 23-year-old man was arrested here Sunday for allegedly replacing the QR code of the filling station run by the state-owned Mizoram State Cooperative Marketing and Consumer's Federation Ltd (MIZOFED) and receiving over Rs 2,000 through Google Pay.
Police said H Lalrohlua was arrested within 24 hours of commission of the crime. His act was caught on the CCTV installed at the fuel station at Treasury Square, the heart of Aizawl city. The footage went viral on social media leading to his arrest. His mobile phone was seized and police found that he received Rs 2,318 in three transactions through Gpay, out of which he paid Rs 890 to someone.
Police said he has confessed to his crime.
Lalrohlua, who hails from Hrangchalkawn in Lunglei district, has been staying at Armed Veng neighbourhood in Aizawl for some time.
