Man gets life term for raping minor girl in Balaghat

Bhopal/Jabalpur: A special POCSO court in Balaghat district sentenced a person to life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 6,000 for raping an 8-year-old girl.

According to the prosecution, the survivor, along with her sister, was playing outside her house on the morning of July 9, 2023, while her mother was washing clothes inside. Her father and grandmother had gone somewhere when the accused came to their home at around 11.00 am and took the child.

As he was raping the girl, her mother saw it and raised an alarm, causing the accused to flee. The people in the neighbourhood also saw the accused fleeing the spot.

Following a report by the mother of the girl, Varaseoni police registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO and charge-sheeted the accused in a special POCSO court at Balaghat.

Based on statements of witnesses and other evidence produced by the prosecution during the trial, the court of Nausin Khan held the accused guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment. MSID:: 113399916 413 |
