UP teacher fears repeat of Meerut 'drum' case with him, accuses wife of issuing life threat

KANPUR: A teacher at a private school in Unnao lodged a complaint with the superintendent of police alleging that his wife was threatening to kill him and dump his body in a drum, similar to the Meerut murder case wherein a man was murdered by his wife and her paramour, and his body was dumped in a blue plastic drum and sealed with cement.

The 42-year-old teacher reached the office of SP Deepak Bhukar with his eight-year-old son on Tuesday to lodge a complaint of harassment against his wife. He also presented video evidence of the threats issued by his wife.

"The teacher alleged that his wife lives in a separate room on the second floor of the house. He claimed that she had an illicit relationship with another person and when he objected, she beat him up and threatened to kill him and dump his body in a drum. He also posted a video on social media in which his wife is purportedly seen threatening and abusing him," a police officer said.

SP Deepak Bhukar said, "The police station in-charge concerned has been asked to investigate the matter. Appropriate action will follow based on the outcome of the inquiry."
