Google Maps to provide Metro train timetable

Kochi: With the increase in the number of daily commuters, Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has introduced a detailed timetable featuring platform numbers, which is now available on Google Maps and the popular train service mobile app ‘Where is My Train'.

When the mobile app provides updates on the train's current location and its expected arrival at the desired station, on Google Maps, passengers can also find the time the train takes to reach the destination station and the ticket fare.

"To access the timetable and updates, commuters can download the updated version of the Where is My Train app. By clicking on the three lines on the left side of the app select ‘update timetable' and select Kochi as the city. On the main screen, options for Express and Metro will appear. Select Metro, then choose the departure and arrival stations. Click on ‘find trains' to see the schedule and platform train arrives. Clicking on it will show the updated movement of the train according to the timetable," a press note issued by KMRL said.

On Google Maps, upon selecting a Metro station and enabling the public transport option, one can access information about the Metro route, and the distance and time required to reach individual stations from the passenger's location. Clicking on the station's name will immediately show the next departing train time, the schedule of upcoming trains, ticket fare to the destination and the arrival times at each station, it said.
