Justice Sushrut Aravind Dharmadhikari sworn in as Kerala high court judge

Kochi: Justice Sushrut Aravind Dharmadhikari, a judge transferred from the Madhya Pradesh high court, was sworn in as a judge of the Kerala high court on Wednesday.

Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar administered the oath at the swearing-in ceremony held in the banquet hall of the Kerala high court. With Justice Dharmadhikari assuming charge, the strength of the Kerala high court has risen to 45 judges.

Born on July 8, 1966, in Raipur, Justice Dharmadhikari has extensive experience in civil, criminal, and constitutional law. He practised as an advocate at the Madhya Pradesh high court in Jabalpur for 24 years. During his legal career, he served as standing counsel for the Union govt from 2000 to 2015. He also represented several institutions, including the Income Tax department, Reserve Bank of India, Central Excise (as senior standing counsel), district central cooperative bank, Hoshangabad, various public sector undertakings, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, BSNL and the welfare commissioner for Bhopal gas victims.

He was appointed as a judge of the Madhya Pradesh high court on April 7, 2016, and was made a permanent judge on March 17, 2018.
