Rs 17 lakh looted in ATM Heist at Punjab's Jagraon

LUDHIANA: Unidentified robbers struck at an ATM in Lamme Jattpura village of Jagraon on Tuesday night and decamped with more than Rs 17 lakh after cutting the machine with a cutter. The police have registered a case and started an investigation.

Police officials said that around 1:34 am on Tuesday night, four to five robbers arrived at the PNB ATM, which is located in the bank branch at Lamme Jattpura. They added that the miscreants sprayed black paint on the CCTVs installed at the ATM, the bank branch, and in the neighboring houses.

The police stated that the robbers spent around an hour at the ATM and took Rs 17,14,500 from it.

Bank Manager Rishab Aggarwal reported that he received a call from the owner of a house in front of the branch at 6:30 am on Wednesday, informing him that the ATM had been looted. He added that he reached the branch within half an hour and found that the shutter had been cut, with a cylinder lying inside.

According to the bank official, the ATM was damaged, and all the cash was taken. He added that after learning of the incident, he immediately called the police helpline, 112, after which the police arrived at the scene and began their investigation. His seniors also arrived and are fully cooperating with the police.

SP Sandeep Vadhera, of Ludhiana Rural Police's Investigation Unit, said they have gathered several clues and expect to crack the case in a day or two.
