Exhibition showcases innovation by corpn school students
Madurai: The Young Kalam Science Exhibition, a platform for fostering innovation and creativity among corporation school students, was inaugurated by Madurai mayor Indrani Ponvasanth at the Velli Veethiyar Corporation Girls' Higher Secondary School on Tuesday.
The event, organised jointly by HCL Foundation and the Socio-Economic Development Trust (SEDT), witnessed enthusiastic participation from young minds across Madurai corporation schools. The annual exhibition featured students from 24 higher secondary schools within the corporation limits, with more than 130 students from classes 6 to 12 showcasing their projects. The exhibition highlighted a wide range of topics, including solutions for urban water scarcity, renewable energy innovations, rainwater harvesting systems, robotics, artificial intelligence, everyday mathematics, and practical applications of science in daily life.
The event served as a platform for students to display their scientific ingenuity and problem-solving skills. Many projects focused on addressing real-world issues, such as converting rainwater into potable water and designing sustainable energy solutions. Robotics and AI-based projects were also among the highlights, reflecting the students' grasp of cutting-edge technologies.
Mayor interacted with the students to understand their ideas and experiments. She lauded the students for their creativity and commitment to addressing pressing societal challenges and encouraged them to continue exploring the wonders of science.
