Plea to lay road in Sivaganga village dismissed
Madurai: Madras high court has dismissed a plea seeking a direction to the authorities to lay a road in Kaliyandur-Nainarpettai village in Sivaganga district.
The court was hearing the petition filed by Sivalingam, who sought a direction to lay the road by implementing the resolutions passed by the Kaliyandur-Nainarpettai village panchayat.
In the counter, the block development officer of Thiruppuvanam panchayat union submitted that the land was earmarked for the construction of a building for Kaliyandur govt high school. Permission to enter upon the land was already accorded by the Sivaganga district collector for the purpose of constructing the school building.
A division bench of justice M S Ramesh and justice A D Maria Clete observed that when land was earmarked for the purpose of constructing a school building, the petitioner had no right to seek the laying of a road. Thus, the prayer in this petition did not deserve consideration, the judges observed, and dismissed the petition.
