Theni police arrest ganja supplier from Odisha in sixth interstate operation

Theni: A special team from Theni police nabbed a ganja supplier from Odisha who was supplying the contraband to ganja peddlers in Theni district.

Devadanapatti police arrested three ganja peddlers on Dec 2, 2024, and seized 26kg of ganja from them. During interrogation, the peddlers said that one Suraj Singh from Jeyapore in Koraput district of Odisha was their supplier.

Based on this information, Theni SP R Shiva Prasad ordered the special team, headed by inspector Parthiban and sub-inspector Kathiresan, to nab Singh from his place. The special team went to Jeyapore and nabbed Singh on April 20, Sunday.

The special team obtained a transit warrant from Jeyapore court and brought Singh to Theni. He was brought to Devadanapatti police station on Tuesday. Singh would be produced before the judicial magistrate court at Periakulam on Wednesday for the remand.

The SP said that this is the sixth time a special team from Theni has nabbed ganja suppliers from other states. "In the last 10 months, the district police carried out six operations and arrested 16 ganja suppliers from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha," he added.
