Man murdered in Amravati district

Amravati: A gang of five members allegedly involved in illegal liquor trade killed a youth they suspected had tipped off the police about them. The incident took place at Shindi (Bujruk) village under the jurisdiction of Pathrot police station on Dec 31 night. Sunny Bhaiyyalal Bhimsagar is the name of the deceased youth. The accused are absconding.

The complainant Dashrath Bhaiyalal Bhimsagar, father of Sunny and two other children, lives at Pohi Road, Shindi Bujruk.

A few days ago, Pathrot police had raided the house of main accused Abhijit Baban Mhatre and seized liquor, and a case was registered after taking preventive action. Suspecting that Sunny Dashrath Bhimsagar gave information about the illegal business to the police, Abhijit Baban Mhatre along with his colleagues Shafiq Sheikh Rafiq Saudagar, Sheikh Atik Sheikh Rafiq Saudagar, Shubham alias Golu Mannalal Dhurve, and Shankar Mannalal Dhurve severely injured him with a sharp sword.

The police said the deceased was standing outside his home with his dog when Abhijit Baban Mhatre stabbed him in the chest with a sword. Shankar Mannalal Dhurve and Shafiq Sheikh Rafiq Saudagar dragged him to the road. The accused allegedly fled on a motorcycle.

The injured youth was taken to Pathrot Health Centre for treatment by his younger brother Bhimraj with the help of a friend, but he died. After some time, police reached the spot.

Sources said some parents and school committee members of the village had complained to police about the illegal liquor business.
