Pant, Vaishnavi join NMC as addl municipal commissioners
Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Wednesday witnessed a major administrative reshuffle, with Vasumana Pant assuming charge as additional municipal commissioner. Along with this, five assistant municipal commissioners were allocated zonal responsibilities, while two deputy municipal commissioner posts now remain vacant following transfers and retirements.
IAS officer Vasumana Pant, originally from Uttarakhand, was transferred to NMC from her previous role as director general of Vanamati. She earlier served in Akola, Nandurbar, and Palghar districts. Pant took charge as the additional municipal commissioner (City) on Wednesday, filling the post left vacant after Aanchal Goyal's transfer as Mumbai district collector. Commissioner Abhijeet Chaudhari welcomed her at the municipal headquarters. Vaishnavi B (IAS, 2019), CEO of Zilla Parishad Akola, was also transferred to Nagpur as an additional municipal commissioner.
Meanwhile, deputy commissioner (Solid Waste Management) Vijay Deshmukh was relieved from his post on Wednesday evening after being transferred as Chief Officer of Wardha Municipal Council. With the retirement of deputy commissioner Prakash Warade on March 31 and Deshmukh's transfer, two out of the seven deputy municipal commissioner posts are now vacant.
In another administrative move, five assistant municipal commissioners were allotted their respective zones on Wednesday following their recent transfer to NMC. As per an order issued by GAD deputy commissioner Vijaya Bankar, Satish Chaudhary was given charge of Laxmi Nagar zone, Snehalata Kumbhar of Dharampeth zone, Paritosh Kankal of Hanuman Nagar zone, Sonam Deshmukh of Nehru Nagar zone, and Suvarna Dakhne of Mangalwari zone. Earlier, Smita Kale was assigned Mangalwari, but her leave led to a revision in the order.
Earlier, Laxmi Nagar zone was looked after by deputy commissioner Milind Meshram, while Narendra Bawankar (Hanuman Nagar), Vikas Raibole (Nehru Nagar), and Prakash Warade (Dharampeth) were overseeing various departments before the latter's retirement on March 31. With these new appointments, the NMC expects smoother operations at the zonal level.
