Protruding iron rod on Samruddhi bridge tears tyres of 10 cars
Buldhana: A major accident was narrowly averted on the Samruddhi Expressway in Buldhana district after an iron rod protruding from a bridge caused the tyres of ten speeding vehicles to burst. The incident occurred around 8pm on Tuesday night.
The incident took place near a bridge, about 2km from the Dusarbid toll plaza. A large iron rod had come loose and was jutting out on the highway. Due to the high speed of vehicles on the expressway, drivers failed to notice the obstruction, resulting in tyre punctures and some vehicles swerving dangerously. One car lost control and crashed into a divider, but fortunately, airbags deployed in time, preventing any casualties.
One of the affected passengers claimed that after his car's tyres burst, he called the Samruddhi Toll Plaza helpline for assistance but received no help. Eventually, the Kingaon Raja police team arrived at the scene and alerted incoming vehicles to prevent further accidents.
"We were traveling from Sambhaji Nagar to Mehkar when our car's tyres burst due to the iron rod sticking out from the bridge, about 2km from the Dusarbid toll plaza. Despite calling the toll plaza for assistance, no help arrived. Later, the Kingaon Raja police team reached the spot and took control of the situation." This incident raises concerns about the safety measures on the Samruddhi Expressway.
