Nagpur: A 50-year-old man was arrested for fraudulently attempting to gain access to a senior citizen's bank account by swapping his SIM card under false pretences. The incident took place in Gittikhadan between Apr 21 & Apr 23.
The victim, Muralidhar Gajbhiye, 70, a resident of Dabha, and owner of a celebration hall at Hazaripahad, was approached by accused Sattar Qutubuddin Ansari under the guise of renting the hall. During their interaction, Ansari requested to use Gajbhiye's mobile phone to make a call. Seizing the opportunity, he discreetly removed the original SIM card and replaced it with a fake one before returning the device.
