Nagpur: The famous ‘Wagh Nakh' of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will be on display in the city in the first week of February. The weapon, supposedly used by the Marathi king to slay the Adilshahi general Afzal Khan, was acquired from the British Govt by India for a specific time period. It will be displayed as the main attraction of the ‘Shivshastra Shaurya' exhibition. The exhibition, which will be inaugurated on February 1 at the city's Central Museum, will be open for eight months. In addition to the ‘Wagh Nakh', the expo will feature several weapons used during the era and snippets of historical information about them.

Announcing the exhibition, collector Vipin Itanakar said that the primary aim behind the exhibition is to spread knowledge about the stories and bravery of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, especially amongst the younger generation. To ensure that all the schools and colleges of the district benefit from this, the exhibition has been planned in coordination with the zilla parishad, primary and secondary education departments, educational institutes, history researchers and charity organisations.

For organising the exhibition, Shivshastra Shaurya Samiti was formed by the state govt featuring Itankar as the chairman and police commissioner, superintendent of police, superintendent engineer PWD, education officer, and information and public relation officer as members.

The preview meeting of the exhibition was held on Saturday under the chairmanship of Itankar. The meeting was attended by NMC additional commissioner Ajay Charthankar, ZP CEO Vinayak Mahamuni, director of archaeology and museums department Nanda Raut, deputy district collector Anup Khande, DCP Rahul Madane, custodian of the Central Museum Mayur Khadke and other members of the committee.
