Trauma Centre CT-scan Restarts; skywalk Gains Pace
Nagpur: The CT scan machine at the Trauma Centre at GMCH has started working again after 10 days of repairs and maintenance activity. During this time, Trauma Centre patients were being referred to GMCH's radiology department in another block.
Dean Dr Raj Gajbhiye reviewed the progress of the skywalk and instructed officials to start it at the earliest. The skywalk connects the Trauma Centre with the casualty ward of GMCH opposite it. Currently, in case of transfers, patients are ferried on wheelchairs or stretchers via the open road in front. Medical superintendent Dr Avinash Gawande inspected the skywalk along with other officials.
TOI had reported about the Trauma Centre CT scan machine going defunct due to a fault in its tube. Patients and relatives faced several challenges to get the scan done at the other block. Multiple complaints surfaced of relatives dragging patients on stretchers under the sun via internal roads to the radiology department building.
On Wednesday, TOI visited the centre to confirm the development. Dean Dr Raj Gajbhiye said the problem in the machine was fixed and a trial was conducted on Tuesday night. "The service started from Wednesday morning," he said.
Dr Gajbhiye added that GMCH has three CT scan machines and patients are scanned at any of them if one stops due to any reason. "The technical team was called immediately, the faulty part was bought and replaced. No patient is ever denied a CT scan at GMCH," he said.
