RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday paid tributes to the martyred DRG jawans who lost their lives in an IED blast in Bijapur district. CM Sai lifted the coffins of jawans during the wreath-laying ceremony at Police Line in Dantewada district.

Eight security personnel from DRG and Bastar Fighters force and a civilian driver were killed in a powerful IED blast triggered by Naxals in Kutru region of Bijapur when the convoy of vehicles carrying jawans was returning from an anti-Naxalite operation in Abujhmarh forests.
The families, women and children of deceased jawans were mourning as the wreaths were laid on coffins byCM Sai, home minister Vijay Sharma, forest minister Kedar Kashyap and other senior leaders. CM Sai met the family members and consoled them.
After paying homage to the martyred jawans, Sai said, "The sacrifices of the jawans will not go in vain and we will be successful in establishing peace in the state."
CM Sai, home minister Vijay Sharma and Director General of Police Ashok Juneja shouldered the coffins of jawans as they were shifted to vehicles to be transported to their respective native places.
"Naxalites have become frustrated due to which they have committed such a cowardly act. I pay my tribute to the martyred jawans and the civilian driver. They sacrificed their lives to establish peace in Chhattisgarh and in the country. We will, indeed, be successful in establishing peace," he said, adding, "I pay tribute to the civilian driver who also lost his life in this incident."
Naxalites carried out their biggest strike in pas two years at Ambeli village using 70 kgs of IED planted under the road. All the jawans travelling in the SUV that suffered the impact of blast, were killed.
Home minister Vijay Sharma said that the Naxalites in their desperation, are resorting to such cowardly acts, but every attempt they make only strengthens our resolve.
"With the indomitable courage of our brave soldiers, we are fully committed to eradicating Naxalism from the land of Chhattisgarh. This battle is at a decisive juncture. By March 2026, we will erase the darkness of Naxalism and usher in a new dawn of peace and progress.
The unmatched courage and sacrifice of these brave sons will be remembered for generations to come," Sharma said.
Among the bereaving families, the BJP leaders met Ramboti, 30, pregnant and inconsolable wife of DRG constable Baman Sodi from Bijapur. She had earlier lost her child in a premature delivery.
Sukmati Korsa, 28, wife of Budram Korsa, had no strength to talk and looked in infinity.
