Man found dead inside parked car at Kulathoor

Thiruvananthapuram: A decomposed body of a man was found inside a car parked along a road at SN Junction near Kulathoor on Wednesday. Thumba police identified the deceased as Joseph Peter, 49, from Valiyaveli Poundkadavu. They suspect the body to be three days old.

According to a postmortem report, the reason for death was cardiac arrest. However, police have registered a case in connection with the incident and have initiated a probe.

According to police, his body was found lying on the back seat of the car. Around 10am, passersby noticed a foul smell emanating from the car and alerted police.

Later police found the body during an inspection of the car. The deceased, who had been missing since Sunday, was identified by his brother.

Meanwhile, the police have ruled out murder or suicide. "The police surgeon who had done the autopsy confirmed that the death was due to cardiac arrest. There are no injuries on the body. He might have experienced chest pain and laid on the back seat of the car. The rear side windows were found partially open and he was found holding the car key. However, we will continue the investigation," said Thumba station house officer, Binu R.

The body was later handed over to relatives. Joseph's wife and son are abroad and he was an entrepreneur.
