Vadodara: Security lapses resurfaced at the MS University campus when an unidentified person climbed a building inside during the early hours of Sunday and created a scene.

The unidentified man climbed the roof of the Faculty of Science building located on the main campus around 3 am, forcing the Vadodara fire and emergency services to swing into action.

The fire personnel had a tough time rescuing the man, who hurled glass pieces at them by breaking the window panels of the building. To bring the man down from the building, the firemen turned the fire hose into a makeshift water cannon. Eventually, he was brought down after nearly two hours of effort and handed over to the Sayajigunj police.

Police sources said that the man is mentally unstable.

The incident, however, has once again brought focus on the security loopholes at the university campus. Recently, the university campus witnessed several incidents of unidentified persons entering the premises and chopping and stealing sandalwood trees.

Such incidents of theft, trespassing, and unauthorised entries are surfacing even as the university is spending a handsome amount claiming to have round-the-clock security and sufficient CCTV cameras.
