1 dead, 7 injured after SUV carrying baratis collides with stationary truck in UP's Jaunpur
VARANASI: Atleast one person was killed while seven suffered injuries when an SUV with Baratis (wedding party) collided with a stationary truck near the Puraupur area under Mungra Badshahpur police station in Jaunpur district on Sunday early morning.
Regarding the accident, Station Officer Mungra Badshahpur Vinod Kumar Mishra said that it is suspected that due to dense fog, the SUV driver failed to notice a stationary truck and collided with it. One person was killed while seven suffered injuries. Three injured were referred to Prayagraj hospital in view of the sharp deterioration in their health condition, he added.

During the initial investigation by the police, it came to light that the wedding procession of Ankur Singh of Satwan village in Mungra Badshahpur went to Mangawan of Satna in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. Some of the wedding guests were returning home by SUV on Saturday night. As the SUV reached near Puraupur village on the Prayagraj road, it collided with a stationary truck.
One Suresh Singh (60) of Satwan village died on the spot, while Pushpendra Singh (55), Pradeep Singh (65), Ajit Singh (40), Avjeet Singh (25), Rishi Singh (27), and Dublu Saroj (33) suffered injuries.
The car driver, Talib (30), sustained minor injuries. On receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the scene and rushed all the injured persons to the primary health centre in Mungra Badshahpur for treatment. On noticing the critical condition of Pushpendra Singh, Pradeep Singh, and Ajit Singh, doctors referred them to Prayagraj.
