Vijayawada: Leaving no stone unturned to promote Mangalagiri sarees, IT and HRD minister Nara Lokesh gifted Mangalagiri saree to his wife Brahmani for Sankranti.

Taking to X, Lokesh posted a picture of his family with his wife donning a yellow-bordered Mangalagiri saree while he and his son Devansh posed for the picture.

Lokesh wrote, "Honoured to gift @brahmaninara a special Mangalagiri saree this Sankranti! The beauty and craftsmanship of our Mangalagiri handlooms are truly unmatched. Let's continue to celebrate and support our skilled handloom weavers who keep this rich heritage alive. #Mangalagiri #HandloomHeritage."

Responding to Lokesh by reposting his post, Brahmani said, "Thank you, @naralokesh! This exquisite Mangalagiri saree is truly special, not just for its elegance but for its story of tradition and craftsmanship. It's a privilege to wear the work of our talented weavers. Wishing everyone a very Happy Sankranti filled with joy and prosperity! #Grateful #HandloomLove #Mangalagiri #HandloomHeritage."

While Lokesh has 1.1 million followers on X, Brahmani has 153 thousand followers. This is not the first time Lokesh used the opportunity to promote Mangalagiri sarees. He gifted the sarees to Brahmani and his mother Bhuvaneswari on earlier occasions as well. Brahmani and Bhuvaneswari also promote the work of Mangalagiri weavers whenever there is an opportunity.

Lokesh, who won with a thumping majority from Mangalagiri on his second attempt, has been reaching out to people at a micro level. For the skill upgradation of local weavers and to give them better marketing opportunities, Lokesh brought Weavershala, a unique concept of skill upgradation and market linkage with Tata Taneria. This program has taken the Mangalagiri handloom woven sarees of Mangalagiri to national and global levels.

While the average income of the weavers increased substantially, Tata's exclusive training, technology, and skill upgradation helped weavers improve their health condition. This also helped in creating a unique and strong brand value for Mangalagiri sarees.
