Minister performs Gau Puja on Kanuma
Visakhapatnam: Agriculture minister K Atchannaidu participated in Gau Puja on the occasion of Kanuma (the third day of the Sankranti festival) on Wednesday. The minister, along with his family, performed prayers in Nimmada village of Srikakulam district.
Speaking on the occasion, Atchannaidu said that livestock, which plays a crucial role in agriculture, is as valuable as a deity. "The NDA govt in Andhra Pradesh is specifically working on the protection of livestock. Initiatives such as the construction of mini Gokulam sheds for cattle and subsidies for grazing lands have resumed across the state since the NDA govt assumed office. More such programmes will be implemented in the future to develop the dairy industry, protect livestock, and improve sheep and goat farming," he said.
"In our culture, worshipping and serving animals is a tradition that has been passed down to us from time immemorial. On this Kanuma festival, we worship cows, which are the foundation of agriculture, and express our gratitude for their hard work. When farmers and agricultural labourers live in prosperity and happiness, only then will the people as a whole be happy. I wish prosperity and well-being to the farmers, fishermen, and dairy farmers on this Kanuma day," the minister added.
