Be it a late night outing or catching up with friends for breakfast before work, there is always a paratha for all your moods. From aloo paratha to some outrageous variants, Kolkata’s paratha joints are on an innovation spree. CT hopped over to some of these places with actress Swastika Dutta to relish the layered, flaky and soft goodness with dollops of ghee and butter.

Winter special: Lachcha paratha & chai
Chai-paratha, brought to Kolkata by Afghan migrants, is enjoyed as an evening snack. Popular at spots like Sabir’s, Mezban, and Aliah Hotel, its appeal lies in the paratha’s inherent sweetness and softness when dipped in milk tea, according to a waiter at Sabir’s.

I am half-Punjabi, so I have grown up eating all kinds of parathas at home. I think, there is nothing that parathas with lots of ghee cannot solve (laughs)
