“I obviously want to be here”: Goaltender Tristan Jarry on future with Pittsburgh Penguins, says he wants to remain with the team
Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry made it official—he wants to remain with his team for the long term. The 28-year-old athlete reaffirmed his commitment to the team and clarified his love for the city and the team. Jarry's future has been in doubt, especially because the Penguins struggled in the current season. Despite that, however, he continues to vindicate himself and earn good showings between the pipes. Tristan Jarry's playoff hopes and Pittsburgh Penguins' season stats
Jarry has kept the Pittsburgh Penguins in contention, especially in their recent string of matches. The team, at 29-32-11, has found it difficult to find rhythm, but Jarry's displays have been the sole thing that has kept them grounded.
“I obviously want to be here. I've been here my whole career; that's where I plan on finishing my career, hopefully. That's something I want to do. I've loved every minute putting on a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey, and I hope I get to do it for a lot longer,” Jarry admitted.
Tristan Jarry’s strong performances keep Pittsburgh Penguins competitive
One of his biggest recent games was in a shootout loss against the Florida Panthers, where Jarry made numerous huge saves and allowed the Penguins to ultimately grab a point on the standings. While they had a strong start, Pittsburgh couldn't hold their lead because Florida's Anton Lundell tied the game with two minutes remaining in the third period.
Jarry's work in goal was once again the difference in a 1-0 overtime win against the Ottawa Senators. The goalie earned his 20th career shutout by not yielding an inch on any of the 31 saves he recorded. His rock-like temperament saw the Penguins through until captain Sidney Crosby provided the game-winner in overtime. Crosby's overtime score was his 24th in his career in overtime, one behind Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin's 27.
Jarry has been a consistent workhorse for the Penguins all season this year during the 2023-24 NHL season. With 13 wins, 11 regulation losses, and five overtime losses on his record, he remains the team's defense anchor. His 3.21 goals-against average has a.891 save percentage.
With the season winding down, the Penguins are six points behind the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers for a playoff spot. With time dwindling, Pittsburgh will rely on Jarry to maintain his good performance if they hope to make a playoff push later in the season.

While his final fate with the team remains to be determined, there is one thing certain—Jarry loves the Penguins. If management does have him included in their vision for the future, fans can expect to continue watching the goalie follow his trajectory with the lone NHL team he has ever called home.
