Will Jalen Hurts Wear The Wrong Shoes Again? The Eagles QB Has A Two-Word Response

Over the weekend, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts ran afoul of the NFL rulebook with his choice of playing shoes. The NFL fined the Eagles QB $5,628 for violating the league’s uniform and equipment rules in Sunday’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, as per reports. Officially, Hurts’ fine was for wearing a shoe colour that’s not one of the Eagles’ “Constitutional team colours”.

Hurts Did Not Confirm Whether He Will Change His Shoes Before Facing The Commanders

On Sunday’s match, Hurts completed 25-of-32 passing for 290 yards with two touchdowns through the air and another 45 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Though his play on the field captured everyone’s attention, his outfit got him in trouble with the NFL. Hurts was wearing cleats that were not the same colour.

Sports journalist Tom Polissero took to X to share NFL’s rule which Hurts may have broken. ‘The rulebook says: “A player may wear shoes that are black, white, or any Constitutional team color, or any combination of black, white, and a Constitutional team color.”’ Polissero wrote on X. Hurts was wearing a dark green shoe on his right while having a light green on his left.

Hurts claimed the cleats he initially wanted to wear didn't show up on time and remained vague on whether he'd accept another fine in the future for his footwear. When Hurts was asked whether he would show up with these shoes again on Week 16 to face the Washington Commanders , Hurts said, “We’ll see.”

It’s worth noting that Hurts scored against the Steelers with a finger injury. The quarterback fractured a finger on his left hand, so his aerial game was not compromised but for Hurts, running with the ball could be an issue.

In statements to the press, Hurts remarked, "It's an adjustment." However, he said that the fracture does affect his performance as a runner. "I think about the run, I know for sure, I don't have my ball on the inside arm, I have it on the outside arm. If I felt comfortable doing it...but I'm not at that stage, so it's a game of adjustments and finding a way," Hurts explained.

"It's on the up and up," Hurts said, adding, "Breaks don't heal in a day."

Hurts also spoke about his stellar performance in the match and broke down some aspects for the fans. "It was a team effort. I think the reality is, just because we don't [pass the ball] doesn't mean we can't," he said. "We were able to get collective hands on deck this week and put up a good game plan to come out here and play.”.

"I'm proud of how we played. Defense played their tails off earlier in the game. We had guys make plays all throughout the game and for the most part did a good job in protection."
