“The WWE today really is World Wide Entertainment”: DDP Shines Light on WWE’s Future

A fresh wave of changes can be detected in WWE following the company’s partnership with TKO. It has announced a series of changes to its business model. They’re cutting back on House Shows and ramping up their international Premium Live Event (PLE) schedule. But according to WWE Hall of Famer "Diamond" Dallas Page, the company might be gearing up for even bigger changes, particularly with their major PLEs.

Appearing on “Drinks on Johnny”, Diamond Dallas Page made an intriguing prediction such as having two SummerSlam events next year. “SummerSlam is number two, next year will be two SummerSlams, just like WrestleMania” recalled DDP on the subject. This suggestion is significant because it hints at WWE’s intention to transform their major events into two-day extravaganzas, potentially doubling the excitement and revenue. DDP believes this move is just the beginning.

He speculates that another major PLE, possibly King of the Ring or the Royal Rumble, might follow this trend, increasing the number of these grand events on WWE’s calendar. According to DDP, WWE is on a path to expand even further, aiming to have four “two-day extravaganzas” each year. He emphasizes that WWE has truly become a global entertainment powerhouse, showcasing its reach and influence across the world.

Besides giving insights about the future of wrestling, DDP acknowledged his experience of reinventing himself in the fitness industry and working with many well-known figures. The latter includes Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Bugg Bugwell as well as the musician Jelly Roll who made a brief appearance at SummerSlam.

Overall, DDP’s comments paint a picture of a WWE that’s continuously evolving and expanding its horizons, with plans to make its major events even more spectacular and impactful. His blend of wrestling insight and personal anecdotes offers a glimpse into the dynamic world of WWE and the broader entertainment industry.
