Realme GT 6T quick review: Deserves your attention

Realme has a spread of phones. There's a number series - that's a mix of everything as it balances the needs and wants of buyers, and it has '+,' 'Pro,' 'Pro+,' and 'X.' Then, there's the C series, and now there's a P series, too, which, as the name implies, focuses more on performance. And if that wasn't enough, there's the Narzo lineup, which, at some point, was focused on gamers. It doesn't stop here; you might remember (since there hasn't been a phone in two years) the GT series. Two years later, Realme is launching a new phone in its performance-driven lineup, the GT 6T.

The Realme GT 6T promises to deliver a premium experience, from its Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset to its 6.78-inch AMOLED screen, all while maintaining a competitive price point. After spending some time with the GT 6T, here are my first impressions.

A design that shines
First things first, let's talk about the design of the Realme GT 6T. The phone features a unique Nano Mirror Design on the back, a real head-turner. Combining a matte metal anodized texture and a shiny metal mirror finish creates a stunning visual contrast that feels modern and sophisticated. The phone comes in two colour options, Fluid Silver and Razor Green, and we have Fluid Silver with us, which catches the eye instantaneously.

The build quality is solid, thanks to the increased durability of the high-grade stainless steel lens module. Despite packing a large battery, the phone maintains a slim profile and a comfortable weight, making it easy to handle during daily use.

The smooth, curvy display
Turning on the GT 6T, you will be greeted by the 6.78-inch AMOLED screen. And boy, the display is pretty good. Colours are rich and vibrant, and the FHD+ resolution ensures everything looks crisp and clear. But the 6000 nits peak brightness is what is special about this display. We tried using the phone outside on a sunny day and had no trouble seeing the screen.

Another nice touch is the adaptive refresh rate, which ranges from 1Hz to 120Hz. Scrolling through menus and social media feeds feels incredibly smooth, and we can already tell this feature will be great for gaming.

Performance-driven, indeed
Under the hood, the Realme GT 6T packs a serious punch with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset. We've only had the chance to use the Realme GT 6T for a short while, but so far, the performance has been nothing short of impressive. We have the 12GB+512GB configuration with us, and apps launch swiftly, multitasking is a breeze, and even demanding games run smoothly without any hiccups.

One thing we couldn’t appreciate much is how clean the user experience has been on the GT 6T. Compared to the older GT phones, the GT 6T has a much cleaner interface — there’s less bloatware, and the Realme UI 5.0 is simple and intuitive. Realme is promising 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates, nothing different from what other manufacturers have promised for phones in this segment.

Packing a 5,500mAh battery, the Realme GT 6T would easily last you about an entire day, as it did for us. And when it's time to top up, the 120W SUPERVOOC fast charger is a real lifesaver, topping up the battery from 0-100% in half an hour more or less.

Cameras show promiseWe haven't had the opportunity to thoroughly test the Realme GT 6T's camera system yet, but the specs look promising. The 50MP primary sensor with OIS, 8MP ultra-wide lens, and 32MP front-facing camera work pretty well. The photos come out sharp, detailed, and vibrant, with near-accurate colour reproduction.

The camera app is intuitive and packed with features, including the new Street Photo Mode 4.0 and the ProLight 2.0 ultra-sensitive night scene algorithm. We’re looking forward to trying all these features and seeing how they work in day-to-day scenarios.

Our first impressions

The Realme GT 6T delivers a compelling flagship experience for a fraction of the price, starting at Rs 30,999. The phone feels premium in the hand, and its design is sure to turn heads. With its power-packed hardware and user-friendly software, the Realme GT 6T caters to both power users and casual consumers alike. If you're looking for a feature-packed device that delivers flagship-level experiences without breaking the bank, the Realme GT 6T is definitely worth considering. However, we'll be spending the coming days testing the phone thoroughly before our final verdict is ready.
