In UP's Banda, teenage girl hangs herself after friend's death
NEW DELHI: Two teenage girls from Banda allegedly ended their lives by hanging themselves at their homes in separate incidents on Friday, police said on Saturday.
The deceased, Pushpa Devi Prajapati , 18, and Gayatri, 19, were close friends, news agency PTI said quoting officials.
Circle Officer (CO) Banda, Rajiv Pratap Singh, said Gayatri, the daughter of Devraj Verma, took her own life at her home in Jari village in the Dehat Kotwali area. She was reportedly upset over being unable to buy warm clothes.

The police were preparing for a post-mortem examination of Gayatri's body when they were informed that Pushpa Devi had also ended her life.
Investigations revealed that the two were close friends and had each other's names tattooed on their arms. Singh said Pushpa could not bear Gayatri's death and took her own life as well.
