Freight train's engine derails due to landslide in Sonbhadra
Lucknow: A freight train , heading to Chopan , was derailed between Churk and Agori Khas railway stations in Sonbhadra district at around 3 am on Monday due to accumulation of debris triggered by a landslide after a downpour. The incident occurred between Churk and Agori Khas railway station at around 3 am.
According to sources, alert loco-pilots managed to apply emergency brakes after spotting the debris. Unfortunately, the wheels of the loco-engine derailed, but it did not turn turtle.
The track was restored at around 9:50 am. Due to the derailment, the Triveni Express (15076), which was already running late by four hours and was heading to Shaktinagar via Chopan, was cancelled.
