Maruti Grand Vitara 2025: Broader Appeal With Added Comfort & Equipment
Maruti Suzuki has given its popular SUV a noteworthy refresh with the launch of the 2025 Grand Vitara . While the exterior tweaks are subtle, the new model packs a much more comprehensive list of features, wider variant availability, and added safety across the board. The SUV is now available in 18 different versions, and deliveries are set to begin shortly. According to automotive experts, the updates are aimed at increasing the SUV’s appeal among family car buyers as well as tech-savvy urban drivers.
More Safety Comes Standard
One of the most significant changes in the 2025 Grand Vitara is the inclusion of six airbags as standard across the entire range. Previously offered only on higher-spec models, this move enhances passenger safety regardless of which variant customers choose. Other standard safety inclusions now comprise electronic stability control, reverse parking sensors, hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, seatbelt reminders for all occupants, and three-point seatbelts.
A notable upgrade in occupant protection, the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)—once limited to the top Alpha Plus strong-hybrid—has been introduced from the Delta mild-hybrid variant onwards. This provides buyers with earlier access to features typically reserved for upper trims.
Premium Additions and Tech Upgrades
A number of features that were earlier limited to the strong-hybrid variants are now being offered across more of the line-up. The panoramic sunroof, once exclusive to the Alpha and Zeta Plus versions, can now be added to the Zeta, Alpha mild-hybrid, and the Zeta Plus and Alpha Plus strong-hybrid trims for an additional cost. This provides greater flexibility to buyers looking for a more premium cabin experience without opting for the most expensive versions.
From the Zeta trim upwards, buyers will now enjoy ventilated front seats and a wireless charging pad, both previously limited to specific strong-hybrid variants. The digital instrument cluster, measuring 7.0 inches, has also been introduced from the Zeta mild-hybrid variant onwards. These inclusions offer a more tech-forward driving experience for a wider segment of customers.
Comfort and Convenience Across More Trims
Further enhancements have been made to rear passenger comfort and front seat adjustability. The Alpha variant now gets an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, providing improvedergonomics and ease of use. Rear sunshades have also been added from the Zeta variant onwards, improving rear-seat comfort during hot weather.
Other creature comforts introduced include an LED cabin light and an integrated air purifier with PM2.5 filtration, both available from the Zeta trim. Maruti Suzuki has also updated the Grand Vitara’s styling with new 17-inch alloy wheels, giving the SUV a more modern stance on the road.
Hybrid Technology and Transmission Options Expanded
Maruti Suzuki has expanded access to its hybrid and drivetrain options as well. The strong-hybrid powertrain, which was previously offered on higher trims, is now available in the Delta Plus variant. In a welcome change for driving enthusiasts, the all-wheel-drive system can now be paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, moving beyond the earlier manual-only offering.
This broader hybrid availability caters to customers looking for better fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance or comfort. It also positions the Grand Vitara more competitively against rivals in the midsize SUV category.
Variant-Level Changes and Feature Adjustments
While there are many additions, a few features have been realigned within the variant structure. The head-up display (HUD), previously available on the Zeta Plus strong-hybrid, has now been removed from that trim and is instead offered on the Alpha mild-hybrid and Alpha Plus strong-hybrid versions. The entry-level Sigma trim sees a few deletions, including the omission of electrically foldable ORVMs, a height-adjustable driver seat, and vanity mirrors for both front occupants. Chrome-finished interior handles are also no longer part of the base model's package.
The 2025 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara update is more than just a cosmetic refresh. It reflects a strategic move to offer higher levels of safety, technology, and comfort across a broader range of variants. With more buyers seeking feature-rich yet affordable SUVs, the expanded offerings and standardised safety gear position the Grand Vitara as a compelling choice in its segment. Whether you're prioritising performance, comfort, or cutting-edge tech, the 2025 line-up offers something for everyone.
