Bengaluru Auto Driver Slaps Woman Over Ride Cancellation: 'Does Your Father Pay For Gas?' Video Sparks Outrage

In a disturbing incident in Bengaluru, a woman who cancelled an Ola auto ride was shockingly assaulted by the enraged driver. After cancelling her original booking and opting for another auto, the driver, identified as R. Muthuraj, confronted her in broad daylight. What started as a heated argument quickly escalated, resulting in the driver slapping the woman in front of other onlookers.

A video of the incident, shared on X (formerly Twitter), went viral, accumulating over 66,500 views. The footage captured the woman repeatedly questioning the driver’s aggressive behavior, asking, “Aap chilla kyu rahe ho [Why are you shouting]?” The furious driver countered with, “Galti se kaise hota hai [How is it a mistake]?” and sarcastically questioned, "Does your father pay for gas?"

“The safety of women is of utmost importance. If, in broad daylight, this individual was able to assault two women merely for canceling a ride due to an issue, one can only imagine the potential dangers he could pose in more secluded settings. Bangalore City Police, it is imperative that strict and decisive action be taken against this autorickshaw driver. His actions not only endanger individuals but also tarnish the city’s reputation. Ola Support , it is crucial to address whether thorough background checks and character verifications are conducted before hiring drivers. It is essential that stringent measures are implemented to prevent such incidents and ensure the safety of all passengers,” reads the video caption shared on X.




Despite the woman’s attempts to defuse the situation and even threatening to go to the police, the driver persisted, demanding that they both visit the police station. Tensions rose further when the woman suggested going to a different police station. At that moment, the driver unexpectedly slapped her.

Following the viral video , the Bengaluru police swiftly arrested Muthuraj. Social media erupted with angry comments, with many demanding that his driving license be cancelled. One user commented, “How dare he! Cancel his license and throw him behind the bars.” Another added, “This is utterly disgusting CP Bengaluru. Please take action immediately.”

The video’s caption emphasized the urgency of the matter, calling for strict action against the driver. It questioned the safety of passengers, especially women, and urged Ola to review its background checks for drivers. The incident has reignited concerns over public safety and highlighted the need for stronger measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
