In India, the regulations surrounding SIM cards are becoming increasingly stringent. With the implementation of the new Telecom Act in July, the rules have tightened, allowing only 9 SIM cards per ID. It's common to share SIM cards with family members or relatives, but how can you ensure that no one else is using a SIM card registered in your name? Here's how you can find out from the comfort of your home.

To check how many SIM cards are active under your name , follow these steps:

  • Visit the website http://tafcop.sancharsaathi.gov.in/.
  • Enter your 10-digit mobile number and the provided captcha code.
  • You will receive an OTP (One-Time Password) on your mobile number.
  • Enter the OTP to log in, and a list of all SIM cards registered under your name will appear.

  • If you notice any number on the list that you don't recognize or aren't using, you can report it. Once reported, the government will take action to block the unauthorized number.

By regularly checking and reporting any unfamiliar SIM cards, you can protect yourself from potential fraud or scams. This precaution can prevent situations where someone might commit a crime using a SIM card in your name , saving you from legal trouble.
